So you see that plate of beautiful pecan pull aparts below? Those were a source of great irritation to my sweet husband the other night. Those who know me know that for about the last year I have hardly slept through a single night. So sometimes when I can't sleep I watch television. Well the other night I was sick of television. So I decided to make a surprise for Richard. I decided it would be nice to have nice hot sweet rolls for him when he woke up. Wrong decision! The first thing that happened was I forgot to put a drip pan under the bundt pan. The sticky rolls decided to drop sticky stuff on the bottom of the oven and burn. When I opened up the oven to check the rolls black smoke rolled out. My first thought was "Oh crap! The fire alarm is going to go off. " So I quickly run to the double french doors and open them wide. I thought I was safe when suddenly there was a very loud noise from the smoke alarm. I am standing below it swishing it with a dishtowel hoping Richard has his good ear down when Jen suddenly appears at the top of the stairs and says, "Is everything all right?" I say, "Oh yea--I am just baking!" Then I hear footsteps of the giant and the giant is standing at the top of the stairs in his purple bathrobe going "What the heck are you doing!!! It is 4:30 in the morning!!" And I sweetly say, "I was just trying to make a surprise for you!" The giant was not amused. End of story? NOPE!
I go back in the kitchen just in time to see a bird fly in the house. Since I am a brilliant human being I decide to chase the bird with a dishtowel. Yes folks that white stuff is bird poop on my kitchen tablecloth.
PS--The giant did eat several of the sticky pecan pull aparts!

Hey--great blogging, Sharon! Kind of reminds me of the squirrel in the kitchen fiasco! We must be sisters; I can't sleep through the night either. This morning I was wide awake at 4:00 a.m. Makes me so mad! I got ready for work and headed in early. Now I'm trying to keep my head off the computer keyboard... (Pat)
That is a great story! I remember when a bird flew into my parents house not too long ago. It kept perching on the ceiling fan. My mom would turn on the fan and it would round and around enjoying the ride. Carson laughed his guts out at that!
Tell the giant to be jolly! :)
Never a dull moment at the Oram household! Awesome blog mom!
My favorite story of the week. We need to come visit you guys sometime, just us and the giant. Maybe in the fall.
Sharon, Sharon, Sharon!!! What a great story. Way to go Richard (the good ear to the pillow is a wonderful handicap)! I know!

So hilarious Sharon. Maybe WE should have beeen roommates! I'm always up for a little middle of the night baking.
I'm laughing at Richard's 'good ear'. I know where Nalani gets her story-telling ability now!
I think it is so cool that you had the presence of mind to take pictures. Maybe you are so great in the middle of the night, that you should resign yourself to it, and sleep in the day. This was the BEST blog, nice job!
