CHRISTMAS 2006

Christmas has come and gone this year and it has been a strange year for me and strange holiday season. This is the first year we had no children coming home so the house was way too quiet. Kami always puts the Christmas tree up for me the day after Thanksgiving. This year it was a couple of weeks later and I'm sure it looked nothing like Kami's masterpieces. But I decided I was not going to be a scrooge! By darn we will have a tree.

On December 14th we had a windstorm to beat all windstorms. It was worse than the Inauguration Day storm up here in 1993 and some people didn't have any means of warmth or cooking nor did they have water. We sure found out where the holes are in our system. Our phones didn't work because they are cordless and had to have electricity so we will know next time to have a plug in phone available. During this time we had Tim and Laurel Sullivan came and stayed with us because they had no heat or water. Laurel said she felt like she had died and gone to heaven when she could have a warm shower. We also had a family with 3 little kids come and stay one night. They had 3 little kids and about froze to death before they said anything about people needing help. Their youngest was 7 months old. I hope that poor baby doesn't end up with pneumonia. I scolded them and told them they better let us know next time.

By the time that was done it was like run to the stores and grab last minute things for everybody. I love calling the Men's Wearhouse when Richard needs some clothes because I call and tell Sara Morris what I want and she takes care of it. I run in the store and she has a table with all kinds of clothes laid out and things that mix and match. I tell her what I want, she bags it up and I run back out the door. That's about how my shopping went this year.

I truly missed the kids this year. Whoever thought up this "sharing" thing. I would be okay with it if all the sharing were with me!

Here are some photos for your enjoyment:

Richie and Sharrie with cute Cannon. Can I just say he is the best baby ever!

Grandpa, Grandma, Cannon who looks just like his mother, Maile did when she was a baby. No lie!

Nate loves lemon pie more than anything. So when I am being especially nice I make a couple for him. Here I am making lemon pie from scratch with real lemons. I was the favorite mother-in-law of all times, at least for that night.

It just doesn't get much better than this.

Kami made this "Thomas the Train" quilt for Quinn.

Maile inspecting quilt Kami made for Cannon and talking to Kami on the phone.

This proves Oregon also has its own brand of rednecks! They were actully on flood control duty. The shed was filling with water.

What a good Daddy that Nate is.

Hmmm--photo paper for a printer? Does this mean a new printer????? I can only hope because I am so sick of that sorry excuse of one we have.

The Thomases are always fun to be with. We get along very well with them and have a lot of fun when we are together.

I love to cook when there are enough people to eat it. I truly wish some of the family lived closer to me. I have a feeling since Kami is now marrying a guy from California that I will probably end up with 5 kids in 5 states at some point. (My next project is to find Cody a good girl from Redmond!)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL!!
